Roxanne let out a laugh, shaking her head at Lily. ”Leave the shitty arguments for your brother, alright Lils?” She couldn’t help but laugh again as Lily crashed into the tree, holding her hands up innocently as she turned around. Roxanne took the half eaten chocolate bar from Lily, taking a small piece and slipping the rest into her pocket. Pulling her wand back out, she casted her own Lumos charm with one hand while the other reached for Lily’s hand. She moved the younger girls hand to cup the tip of the wand, dimming the light her spell created before doing the same with her own. Her gut was telling her that something wasn’t right, and the more she stood there, the more anxious she got. Looking over at Lily she nodded her head. ”As I’ll probably ever be.”
She kept her hand the way Roxie placed it, it was probably safer that way. It was always smart to listen to Roxanne in these situations, her gut reactions were always reliable. Walking through, they tried to keep the crunch of the forest floor to a minimum. Whatever or whomever was out there - did not need any warning about the two of them showing up. Lily could feel her heart thundering in her chest. They were probably crazy. They had probably broken over fifty school rules in the past few minutes.
Lily froze as she believed to see something whiz through the forest. She looked up at Roxanne and took a deep breath. “Did you see that?”
Roxanne fiddled with the wand in her hands, holding back the urge to cast a lumos charm so that she could actually see. The dark forest loomed in front of the young Gryffindor, all it’s secrets just waiting to be discovered. Normally, this would encourage Roxanne to charge straight into the forest, but things have been changing recently. She wasn’t quite sure what missing muggles had to do with Hogwarts, but once a student went missing, that’s when everyone knew something was wrong. It left Roxanne feeling a bit uneasy and the forest in front of her seemed to radiate more bad then it did good…not that it ever radiated that much good before. Roxanne was pulled out of her thoughts by something leaping onto her back, followed by a loud yell in her ear. The young girl’s hand slapped over her mouth just in time to muffle her scream as she heard lily’s laughter in her ears. Turning her head, Roxanne frowned. ”For the love of Merlin Lils, you gave me a heart attack. Don’t do that again alright?”
Lily got up from the ground, dusting her pants off - before giving Roxanne her best impression of a James pout. “I’m such a dashing lad, you can’t be upset with me.” Faking a hair flip, she dramatically whipped forward before finding the right side of her face against a tree trunk. “Don’t say a thing…” She sighed and pulled out her wand - casting a Lumos, and pulling half a bar of chocolate from her pocket and offering it to Roxanne. “It got me through, Vincent’s detention.” Lily wiped her hands against her jumper, she was nervous, but she didn’t know why - was it the anticipation of finding something out there, or was it the fear of what exactly they would find. “Ready, Rox?”
Lily gave Professor Vincent one last cheeky grin, before dashing towards the dark forest. She’d promised to meet Roxanne out there. Things had gotten weird around Hogwarts, first a missing girl and reports of missing muggles - it was just too crazy. She gripped the straps of her bag and ran to the figure of Roxanne standing a few feet from her, jumping on her back, yelling, “BOO!”
